MEET ROGER
EXPERIENCE AND LEADERSHIP IN PUBLIC SERVICE
My passion for a career in law enforcement began in 1969 when I joined the Fairfax County Police Department. Throughout my career, I quickly understood the importance of community policing and how it impacts the relationships between the community and law enforcement. I moved to Spotsylvania in the early '80s immediately after retiring from Fairfax I felt the need to serve the community in which I lived. My career in Spotsylvania began in 1989 and throughout my tenure, I worked in all facets of investigations. I proudly served as the Regional Drug coordinator, a multi-jurisdictional task force, that lead the state in drug seizures and arrests.
Immediately after taking office in 2012, my main focus was to build relationships that would gain the trust and confidence of our community. Currently, the Sheriff's Office hosts or sponsors over 300 events of which thousands of dollars and services are provided to hundreds of needy families throughout Spotsylvania County.
Along with helping those in need, providing a safe place to live and raise a family is first and foremost. As your Sheriff, I have created programs that have helped to reduce the crime rate and build deep trust in our community. I would be remiss not to mention the ongoing cooperation with local businesses and organizations that also help.
Over the past ten years, the Sheriff's Office has grown leaps and bounds, thanks to your support the agency has been able to purchase new equipment and hire more deputies to provide better coverage throughout the county.
I am proud of the men and women who serve our community and appreciate the opportunity to do as well.
